Welcome to our website. We are the Pennies.
NEXT SHOWS:
Saturday, May 18, 1pm @ Porchfest, Somerville, MA
Sunday, May 19, 11am @ First Church Boston, Boston, MA
The Pennies became a band in 2006. There are four of them and they play ten instruments: electric guitar, acoustic guitars, upright bass, drums, harmonica, accordion, trumpet, ukuleles, banjo, and piano. Everyone sings but Caroline is the best so she sings the most.
The Pennies write their own songs and they also sing songs written by other people. The songs are about love, heartbreak, the moon, trains, quarries, the devil, disasters, ghosts, the weather, and the undead. The Pennies have played in lots of venues in Boston, like Johnny D’s, Precinct, Sally O’Brien’s, the Middle East, and the Abbey Lounge. They’ve played in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York, and they would really like to play in Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Ontario.
The Pennies’ music is called “Americana”, which means that they play country, folk, rock and blues. Maybe think about inviting the Pennies over to your place for a show.
Caroline says:
“I am a singer and I play harmonicas. I am the only lady in the group. I have the best baby.”
Chris says:
“I like to play the banjo best. I love my wife and writing songs about her. Autumn is the greatest season.”
Dave says:
“I got married the day before Halloween. I own a giant cello. Sometimes, jazz is just right.”
Tom says:
“I look good in a suit, but prefer not to wear shoes. I can eat more candy than you. Music is a hobby that I have, along with swimming.”
